After completion, and passing Hearts in Training Nurse Aide Program, you may test for you certification.
To be a CNA in Texas you must pass an approved nurse aide class as well as The Texas Certification Test.

TESTING ONLY APPLICANTS
Some students are approved to do "Testing Only", without training. If you have a letter from Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) stating that you may "Test Only", our school will provide an 8 hour refresher course allowing you to test with our school.

State Exam
What is on the CEP (State of Texas Examination)? The CEP consists of:
- A skills examination, which requires the candidate to demonstrate competency in five randomly selected skills drawn from a list of 34 skills.
- A written examination made up of 70 multiple-choice questions. The exam may be taken orally upon request.

Upon completion of the class, students will be eligible to take the State Certification Exam which is currently $83.00 for skills and written. Students must have a current License or State ID plus Social Security Card or other U.S. Government issued ID. Copies of these documents must accompany the application (supplied by school), money order, certified check, or other official payment method which the program director will send to NACES (Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Service) near the end of training. The state requires a minimum of two weeks after the end of training before scheduling of test dates.
